Stochastic Aggregation: Scaling Properties
In the preceding study, we introduced a stochastic aggregation process involving both active and passive clusters [1]. We generalized Smoluchowski’s rate equations and obtained exact results for several kernels. In this study, we apply stochastic aggregation to reactiondiffusion, coarsening, and ballistic agglomeration problems. Our goal is to examine the range of validity the mean-field result...
متن کاملThe poweRlaw package: Examples
The poweRlaw package provides an easy to use interface for fitting and visualising heavy tailed distributions, including power-laws. The fitting procedure follows the method detailed in Clauset et al. 1. This vignette gives examples of the fitting procedure. The Moby Dick dataset contains the frequency of unique words in the the novel Moby Dick by Herman Melville. The data set can be downloaded...
متن کاملScaling in steady-state aggregation with injection.
A mean-field approach for steady-state aggregation with injection is presented. It is shown that for a wide variety of aggregation processes the resulting steady-size distribution obeys a power law N(m) approximately m(-alpha) with alpha=(3+beta)/2 and beta the degree of homogeneity of the coagulation kernel. The general conditions for this to happen are obtained. Some applications are studied....
متن کاملA scaling correction in cluster-cluster aggregation
A general correction term in the radius of gyration ~caling law is discussed. The work incorporates the finite size effect considered by Ball and Jullien (J. Ph_»s. Left. Fiance 45 (1984) L1031j and is a potentially useful extension of their analysis to polydisperse systems. Numerical simulations verify these re~ults for one particular model, and demonstrate the remarkable
متن کاملFluctuations and scaling in aggregation phenomena
Many physical phenomena are governed by the aggregation of material. Such processes have been studied in earnest since the early parts of this century and continue to attract considerable interest within areas that range from astrophysics 2 to biology. The most powerful methods for analyzing these phenomena are based on general scaling arguments 5 applied to the number and size distribut...
